The countdown to the 2025 Hughenden Festival of Outback Skies has officially begun, with tickets on sale from midday today (Wednesday 15 January) for what promises to be the biggest and best festival yet.

The festival – from 2-4 May 2025 – will once again be packed with an exciting program of activities, entertainment, and cultural experiences.

Flinders Shire Council is delighted to unveil a range of signature events returning for the festival, including the thrilling bull ride, arts and cultural workshops, the popular Vegas-themed Dinner Under the Stars, raft race, and BBQ demonstrations and competition.

New elements for this year’s event include a fishing competition and a feature production on the Sunday night, ‘Moonda Nurra’ – the dreamtime creation story of the Yirendali, who are traditional custodians in the Flinders Shire.

Festival-goers can also enjoy fishing competitions, BBQ demonstrations, and the enchanting lantern parade under the vast Outback skies.

Flinders Shire Mayor Kate Peddle expressed her excitement for the upcoming festival, calling it a vital event for the community and a unique showcase of the Outback spirit.

“The Hughenden Festival of Outback Skies has become a standout event on our calendar, bringing together locals and visitors alike to celebrate our rich culture, vibrant community, and stunning Outback landscapes,” said Cr Peddle.

“This is not just a celebration of our Outback charm but an essential event for supporting local businesses and showcasing Flinders Shire as a must-visit destination.”

Mayor Peddle also thanked the community for their feedback on the 2024 festival which has enabled Council to make meaningful improvements to this year’s event

“We have acknowledged areas that needed improvement and have strived to continue to make changes that benefit this special festival for our community,” she said.

“With the valuable feedback we’ve received, we are confident this year’s event will be better than ever, offering an even more memorable experience for all.”
